Scientific name: Pleurotus Ostreatus
The caps of these mushrooms have roughly the shape of an oyster, these are mostly white with some grey and yellow colorations near the stem. When wet the mushrooms feel soapy to the touch.
There will be a natural variation in the size of each fruit and each cluster of fruits.
The cap edges are quite delicate and prone to tears when handling and packaging but the quality remains intact. These mushrooms have a lot of moisture in them and a reduction in size during stir frying is expected.
It has a slightly woodsy taste when cooked and gives off a sweet aroma when frying. The texture is similar to seafood.
